“Plant a Tree” – A step towards a greener tomorrow at St Philomena P.U. College, Puttur.

The Eco Club of St Philomena P.U. College, Puttur organised a meaningful environmental programme, “Plant a Tree,” on 29 August 2026, with the aim of fostering awareness among students about the importance of nature and the need to protect and preserve our environment.
The programme was graced by the presence of the Principal, Rev. Fr Ashok Rayan Crasta, who spoke about the importance and numerous benefits of nature. He highlighted the vital role of trees in sustaining life, maintaining ecological balance and creating a healthy environment. He encouraged the students to develop a sense of responsibility towards nature and contribute to building a greener and healthier future.
The programme was organised under the guidance of the Eco Club Convenors, Mrs Kavitha K and Mr Harshith Kumar, Department of Biology, who motivated the students to actively participate in environmental initiatives. The students enthusiastically took part in the planting of saplings, reflecting their commitment in protecting and nurturing nature.
Rishini Antonette Fernandes of II PCMB ‘C’, an Eco Club office bearer, welcomed the gathering, while Poorva Gowda of II PCMB ‘B’, also an office bearer, was present on the occasion.
