Inauguration of Students' Council, Clubs and Associations 2026-27 at St Philomena P.U.College , Puttur .

Inauguration of the Students' Council, Clubs and Associations was held at St Philomena P.U.College, Puttur on 13th June 2026 in the Silver Jubilee Memorial Hall.

The formal programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp.

The President , Rev. Fr Ashok Rayan Crasta, Principal, St Philomena P.U.College, Puttur said that students have been entrusted with various responsibilities with the confidence that they will discharge them sincerely and effectively. He emphasized that students should cultivate an attitude of service towards society, as a true leader is one who serves others. He added that anyone who develops this quality can become a good leader. He further stressed that good character is essential for effective leadership. According to him, a leader is one who motivates, guides and inspires others to achieve common goals.

The Chief Guest , Dr Vishal Pinto Assistant professor Government first grade college, Vamadapadavu

encouraged students to utilize their college years to acquire knowledge and cultivate the right values. Quoting a famous saying, he stated, “If health is lost, nothing is lost; if wealth is lost, something is lost; but if character is lost, everything is lost,” highlighting the importance of good character in life. He urged students to respect their teachers, as they are the source of knowledge and guidance and to honor their parents who make countless sacrifices for their children. He remarked that respect is one of the greatest values that is gradually diminishing in society today. He also advised students to lead a simple life and identify their talents, transforming them into productive skills.

The Chief Guest expressed concern that excessive use of mobile phones is preventing youngsters from acquiring meaningful knowledge and values. He encouraged students to accept failures positively, reminding them that success often follows failure. He described silence as a great virtue and stressed that hard work is essential for achieving one's goals.

Furthermore, he stated that opportunities do not simply come to us; rather, we must create them through our efforts and determination. Concluding his address, he highlighted that college life is a golden period that provides students with opportunities to transform themselves, develop their personalities and prepare for a successful future.

The Guest of honour, Mrs Divya Anil Rai,PTA President stated that leadership is a quality that fosters positivity and helps students discover and develop their hidden talents. She emphasized that every organization plays a significant role in shaping the personality and overall development of students. Encouraging the students to make the best use of the opportunities available to them, she urged them to actively participate in various activities and develop their leadership skills. She concluded by wishing the students success and expressed her hope that they would emerge as capable and inspiring leaders in the future.

The Guest of Honour, Dr Shriprakash B, President, Alumni Association stated that the Student Council serves as a platform for self-governance and helps students develop leadership and responsibility. He emphasized that every student should be aware of and diligently fulfill their responsibilities. He remarked that every individual is born with unique talents and encouraged students to identify, nurture and utilize their abilities through creative and constructive activities. Furthermore, he advised students to develop self-confidence and self-respect, stating that learning to value and believe in oneself is the first step towards achieving success in life.

Rev. Fr Ashok Rayan Crasta ,the Principal, St Philomena P.U.College, Puttur administered the oath of office to the newly elected members of the student council.

The Directors of Students' Council, Mr Govinda Prakash C.H( Lecturer in Computer Science) , Mrs Philomena Monteiro ( Lecturer in Commerce) and Mrs Kavitha K .( Lecturer in Biology coordinated the programme.
