🌳🌳 Philo-Eco Worriers Environmental Day Celebration and School Cleaning Program at Government Higher Primary School, Panaje
Puttur, June 7, 2025 – The Rovers and Rangers, Samskrutha Sangha, and Humanity Association of St. Philomena PU College, Darbe, Puttur, organized a commendable initiative titled "Eco Worriers - Environmental Day Celebration and School Cleaning Program" at Dakshina Kannada Government Higher Primary School, Panaje, on June 7, 2025. The event aimed to promote environmental awareness and foster a sense of responsibility towards nature among students and the community.
The program was presided over by Mr. Sitaram, the esteemed Headmaster of the school. The event was graced by distinguished guests of honor, including Mr. Manku Moolya, Assistant Teacher; Mr. Sandesh John Lobo, Lecturer in the Department of English; Mr. Suresh Kumar, Lecturer in the Department of Sanskrit; Mr. Chandraksha, Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science; and Mr. Sananth Kumar, an alumnus of Government Higher Primary School, Panaje.
The initiative featured a series of impactful activities designed to enhance the school’s environment and instill eco-conscious values. Participants engaged in planting trees to promote greenery, cleaning plastics scattered around the school premises to combat pollution, removing weeds to maintain a tidy campus, and creating pathways for rainwater to ensure proper drainage and prevent waterlogging. These activities not only beautified the school but also served as practical lessons in environmental stewardship.
The event was supported by generous contributions from sponsors. Mr. Ummar and his team, along with the School Development and Monitoring Committee (SDMC) President and members, provided refreshing sweets and juice for the participants. The school itself arranged a wholesome lunch, ensuring that all attendees were well-cared for during the program.
The learning outcomes of the event were profound, with participants gaining a deeper sense of responsibility and love for nature. The collaborative effort fostered coordination among students and reinforced the importance of social responsibility in building a sustainable future.
