An Awareness programme on Anti Drug & Road Safety at St Philomena P.U.College, Puttur.

St Philomena P.U.College,Puttur in association with Al Ikhwaan organized an awareness programme on Anti Drug and Road Safety on 21/10/2024.

The President, Ashok Rayan Crasta, Principal,St Philomena P.U.College, Puttur warned students about the devastating consequences of alcohol and drug abuse among young people, affecting not only their well-being but also their families, friends, and society.

Mr Abdul Khadar Navoor ,Director Informate Foundation (R) & Anugraha Training College, Mudipu delivered a poignant address on drug awareness. He underscored the alarming prevalence of drug abuse, emphasizing that it has become a severe societal problem. He exhorted students to remain vigilant and resistant to the allure of drugs, instead becoming ambassadors of change by spreading awareness among their peers.

Mr Kutti M.,Sub Inspector, Traffic Police Station, Puttur emphasized the crucial importance of road safety. He defined road safety as the prevention of road accidents through adherence to rules and regulations. He added that the key factor in road safety is skilled and cautious driving, ensuring the safety of passengers, pedestrians, and drivers alike. He particularly highlighted the vulnerability of teenagers, who are more likely to be killed or injured in road collisions than any other age group. To mitigate this risk, He stressed the importance of adhering to traffic signs, exercising caution in one-way traffic, and avoiding overspeeding. He warned against the dangers of driving without helmets on two-wheelers and without seatbelts on four-wheelers.

Mr Mohammed Afreed ,General Secretary, Al Ikhwaan Charity Foundation (R) welcomed the gathering. Sai Nandan ( I ECBA) proposed vote of thanks. Mr Sharath Alva, Dept of History compered the programme.
