District Level Cultural Competitions Hosted at St Philomena P.U. College, Puttur.

District-Level Cultural Competitions were held at St Philomena P.U. College, Puttur, on 20 November 2025. The programme was jointly organized by the Department of School Education (Pre-University), Dakshina Kannada, and St Philomena P.U. College, Puttur.

The President, Very Rev. Fr Lawrence Mascarenhas, Correspondent of Mai De Deus Educational Institutions, extended his best wishes and blessings to all the participants, appreciating their enthusiastic involvement in various cultural activities. He encouraged students to balance academics with co-curricular pursuits, cultivate faith, and serve society with dedication. He also stressed the value of learning from others and shaping one’s life through positive influences.

The Inaugurator, Mrs Rajeshwari H. H., Deputy Director, Department of School Education (Pre-University), Dakshina Kannada, emphasized the importance of giving equal priority to sports and cultural activities alongside academics. She highlighted that overall development is vital for students and that consistent practice plays a key role in achieving it. She further stated that participation holds greater value than winning and urged students to identify and nurture their unique talents.

The Chief Guest, Mr Somashekar Nayak, Principal, S.S. P.U. College, Subramanya, remarked that academics alone do not define a student's potential. He encouraged students to recognize and cultivate their innate talents along with their studies, as this holistic approach leads to a more meaningful and well-rounded life.

On this special occasion, Mrs Rajeshwari H. H., Deputy Director, Department of School Education (Pre-University), Dakshina Kannada, was felicitated.

A wide range of competitions were conducted for both I PU and II PU students, including Kannada Debate, English Debate, Kannada Essay, English Essay, Monoacting, Bhavageethe, Science Model, Painting, Folk Dance, and Quiz.

A total of 414 students from 28 colleges participated in the event.

The programme was coordinated by Mrs Sumana K., the event coordinator.

Rev. Fr Ashok Rayan Crasta, Principal, St Philomena P.U. College, Puttur, welcomed the gathering. Mrs Sumana K., Coordinator of the event proposed vote of thanks .Dr Asha Savithri P. from the Department of Hindi compered the programme.
