A Day of Learning and Inspiration for St Philomena P.U. College Students at Balavana.

On November 12, 2025, the Arts Department, in collaboration with the Humanities Association, organized an educational visit to the iconic Dr Shivarama Karanth Balavana in Puttur taluk.

The visit aimed to deepen students’ understanding of literature, art, culture, environmental consciousness, and the extraordinary legacy of Jnanpith awardee Dr Shivarama Karanth.

Bharath Kumar, Dean of the Arts Department and Lecturer in Political Science, offered students a comprehensive insight into Dr Karanth’s multifaceted brilliance—his literary achievements, contributions to theatre, and his progressive views on social transformation.

Mrs Geetha Kumari , Dept of Economics and Mr Sharath Kumar,Dept of History were present on the occasion, guiding and supporting the students throughout the visit.

The students reflected on their experiences, expressing that such educational visits not only broaden knowledge but also nurture cultural awareness and social sensitivity.
