St Philomena P.U. College, Puttur, hosted "Philo Pratibha," A One-day Inter-School Competitions for high school students, on August 6th , 2026 , at the Silver Jubilee Memorial Hall. The programme began with the dignitaries lighting the lamp.

The President, Rev. Fr Ashok Rayan Crasta, Principal, St Philomena P.U.College, Puttur said that Philo Pratibha was organized to provide a platform for high school students to showcase their talents and abilities. He shared that St Philomena P.U. College, established in 1958, has successfully completed 68 years of dedicated service in shaping the lives of thousands of students. He highlighted that the institution is well known not only for imparting academic knowledge but also for fostering the overall development of students through various co-curricular and extracurricular activities.

He emphasized that winning prizes is not the only measure of success; participation itself is equally important, as it builds confidence, provides valuable experience and prepares students for future challenges. He reminded the students that participation is the first step towards success and encouraged them not to lose heart, instead they should cherish the experience, remain optimistic and continue striving for excellence.

The Chief Guest, Mr Vishnuprasad C., Rtd BEO, Puttur stated that learning can be considered complete only when it encompasses every aspect of life. He remarked that classroom learning accounts for only 20 percent of education, while the remaining 80 percent comes from observing, experiencing and learning from our surroundings. He emphasized that discipline is an essential quality for every student and that consistent practice is the key to mastering any skill. Without regular practice, he said, learning remains incomplete.

The Guest of Honour, Mr Anthony Oliveira, Vice President, Parent Teacher Association

encouraged the students to make the best use of the platform provided to them. He said that they should feel proud to have been selected to represent their schools, as participation itself is a significant achievement. He reminded the students that every participant is a winner in spirit and urged them to seize every opportunity to learn, perform and grow with confidence.

About 749 students from 37 High schools participated in various competitions, including

Collage Making,Science model,Pencil sketch, clay model,English Seminar, Quiz,Best out of waste ,Folk dance,Patriotic song ,

Recitation of Kannada Poem, Rangoli by using grains, Fancy dress

Launching the product and Face painting.

The coordinators, Mrs Suma P.R.,Dept of English and Mr Rohith Kumar T, Dept of Physics ensured the program's success.
