Teachers' Day Celebration at St Philomena P.U. College, Puttur.

On September 6, 2025, the Student Council Association, Parent Teacher Association, and Fine Arts Association of St Philomena P.U. College, Puttur, jointly celebrated Teachers' Day at the Silver Jubilee Memorial Hall. This event commemorated the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, a revered educator and former President of India.

The celebration was a tribute to the dedication and hard work of the teaching fraternity, acknowledging their invaluable contribution in shaping young minds. The event featured various activities and performances, showcasing the students' appreciation for their teachers.

The celebration commenced with a soulful prayer song performed by the talented students of the Performing Arts Association. The heartfelt rendition set the tone for a joyous and reverent tribute to the teaching fraternity.

The occasion was graced by the President, Rev.Fr Ashok Rayan Crasta, Principal, St Philomena P.U.College, Puttur extended warm wishes to all the lecturers, expressing appreciation for their dedication in shaping the future of the students. He emphasized that it is the duty of the teachers to guide and nurture their students. According to him, the best teachers are those who are strict yet inspiring, fostering curiosity and identifying the unique talents of their students.A good teacher, he noted, is one who looks beyond the present and nurtures students toward a bright future. He encouraged students to respect their teachers and build a strong bond with them.

The Chief Guest, Dr H. Madhava Bhat ,Principal ( Rtd),Vivekananda College, Puttur highlighted that education today is student-centric, focusing on correction and growth. He emphasized that Teachers' Day should be celebrated every day. Comparing teachers to Brahma, Vishnu, and Maheshwara, he underscored their invaluable role.Teachers, he noted, dedicate their lives to students and are among the best in society, worthy of recognition and respect. He cautioned students against quarreling with teachers, who rarely fight back due to their nature, and urged them to respect their educators.In an era where students are becoming increasingly clever, teachers must be 720 degrees alert. Dr Madhava Bhat encouraged everyone to be magnanimous, acknowledging that a community cannot thrive without teachers. He added that teachers not only teach through words but also through their silence, often taking on the role of a preacher.

The Guest of Honour, Mrs Divya Anil Rai , Vice President of the Parent Teacher Association,

said ,"Teachers play a vital role in guiding and shaping young minds. Their patience, love, and dedication are indeed invaluable. Showing respect and gratitude towards them is a great way for students to acknowledge the impact teachers have on their lives".

highlighted the significance of Teachers' Day, emphasizing the invaluable service teachers provide throughout the year. He noted that teaching is a noble profession that helps build the nation, and teachers are known for their honesty and integrity.

PTA Executive members were present on the occasion. Cultural programme was organized on the occasion.

The Students' Council Directors, Mr Govinda Prakash C.H,Dean of Commerce, Mrs Philomena Monteiro,Dept of Commerce and Mrs Kavitha,Dept of Biology guided the members of Students' Council and the Co ordinators of Fine Arts Association Mrs Rashmi P.S. Dept of Physics ,Mrs Jyothi M., Dept of Sociology, Mrs Ashalatha K.,Dept of Mathematics,Mr Sharath Kumar Alva , Dept of History, Ms Vinola Amitha Lobo, Dept of Chemistry,Mrs Manuja P.,Dept of Commerce, Mrs Lavisha Dcunha, Dept of Chemistry co ordinated the cultural programme.

Apoorva ( II PCMC- E ) highlighted the significance of Teachers' Day and the invaluable role teachers play in shaping students' lives.Stephy (II PCMB- C ) welcomed the gathering. Thejas A.K (II PCMC ‘E’ ) - Secretary of Student Council proposed Vote of thanks .Deepthi K.C ( II SCBA) - President of Student Council compered the programme. Amulya ( II PCMB- A) compered the Cultural programme.
