Talk on “AI: Future Scope and Problems” at St Philomena P.U. College, Puttur.

The IT Club of St Philomena P.U. College, Puttur, organised an informative talk on “AI: Future Scope and Problems” on 3rd October 2026, with the aim of creating awareness among students about the growing influence and possibilities of Artificial Intelligence.

Rev. Fr Ashok Rayan Crasta, Principal of St Philomena P.U. College, Puttur, presided over the programme. In his presidential remarks, he highlighted the significance of understanding Artificial Intelligence in the present era, stating that AI has become an integral part of the rapidly changing world and that programmes such as these help students gain a better understanding of its potential and challenges.

The resource person, Mr Srinivas Hegde, alumnus of St Philomena P.U. College, Puttur, gave an engaging and insightful talk on Artificial Intelligence. He explained that AI is not a recent development and traced its origins to the 1950s. He introduced students to the various capabilities of AI, explaining how it can perceive, hear and understand information, identify patterns, solve problems, make decisions, generate outputs and take appropriate actions. He further described AI as a collection of methods that enables computers to learn, predict, generate and act, thereby giving students a clear perspective on its growing role and future scope.

Mr Govinda Prakash C.H., Dean of the Commerce Stream, was present on the occasion.

The programme was coordinated by the IT Club convenors, Mrs Yashaswini M.S. and Mrs Veeksha, Department of Computer Science.

Mrs Yashaswini M.S.,Dept of Computer Science welcomed the gathering, while Shaan (II PCMC-E) proposed the vote of thanks. Sameeksha Akshara (II ECBA-D) compered the programme.

The session provided students with valuable insights into the evolving world of Artificial Intelligence and encouraged them to look at its opportunities and challenges with greater awareness.
