Women Empowerment Cell in collaboration with Child Protection Cell of St Philomena P.U.College, Puttur organized a workshop on Self Defence at S ilver Jubilee Memorial Hall on 28/06/2023.

The President, Rev. Fr Ashok Rayan Crasta,Principal , St Philomena P.U.College, Puttur in his presidential remarks said ,”Self Defence is very important as it helps to protect and build confidence, awareness and take appropriate actions in a dangerous situation”.

The Chief Guest and the Resource Person, Mr Karthik S Kateel, CEO and Founder Swaraksha for Women Trust, Kateel informed students about the Cyber Crime and the drawbacks of social media. He advised students not to trust or blame anyone and educated students about the bad and good touch along with the difference types of harassment. He even displayed some basic techniques of self defense.

The Guest of Honour, Rev. Fr Stany Pinto, Campus Director, St Philomena Institutions said , “Self defence tactics are the way of protecting oneself from any form of physical harm”.

Mrs Shobhalatha , Mother of Mr Karthik S Kateel was present on the occasion.

Mrs Geetha Kumari ( Dept of Economics)and Mrs Usha Rai ( Dept of Physics), Convenors of Women Empowerment Cell and Mrs Usha A( Dept of Kannada) and Mrs Rekha( Dept of Electronics)the convenors of Child Protection Act co ordinated the programme.
