Workshop on Journalism

St Philomena P.U.College, Puttur in collaboration with Karnataka Journalist Association ,Puttur organized a workshop on Journalism on 12/07/2023 at Silver Jubilee Memorial Hall.

The programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by the dignitaries.

 

The Inaugurator, Rev. Fr Ashok Rayan Crasta, Principal, St Philomena P.U.College, Puttur said, “Newspaper is a collection of news from all over the world which keeps us up-to-date about everything significant going outside our houses”.He motivated students to practice news reading on daily basis as it is a good habit which improves general knowledge and makes everyone aware of our country’s economical, social and political issues.

The President, Mr Tilak Rai Kuthadi , President, Karnataka Journalist Association, Puttur Taluk in his presidential remarks said ,”Newspaper makes us confident and helps in improving our personality. As a citizen of the country, we are fully responsible to know all the pros and cons going in the country or other countries. It gives us a vast knowledge in just 15 mins or half an hour”.

Mr P.B.Harish Rai , President, Press Club , Mangalore said ,” Newspaper is the most important thing used by everyone of any religion, caste or creed. It helps students a lot in preparing projects and home works. It also helps to know about new researches, new technologies, all the high and low of the market and so many things”.

The Guest of honour Mr Sudesh, District President, Karnataka Journalist Association, Mangalore said,”Newspaper gives us each and every news and views from each and every corner of the world. Newspaper brings information about businessmen, politician, social issues, unemployed people, sports, games, international news, kids, science, education, medicine, celebrities, fairs, festivals, technologies etc. It helps in widening knowledge, skill, and technical awareness”.

The Guest of honour, Dr Shivasharan Shetty, District Vice President, Karnataka Journalist Association, Mangalore said, “In the modern era, the revolution of newspapers has been spread to the whole country. Now-a-days, everyone has become much conscious about their knowledge. It is a good habit to read newspaper on daily basis as it helps to know about the latest trends and traditions”.

The programme was organized by the cordinators of Press and Publicity Mr Sharath Alva, Dept of History, Mrs Sumana ,Dept of Kannada, Mrs Suma ,Dept of English, Mrs Usha Rai ,Dept of Physics and Mr Santhosh Kumar ,Administrative Staff.

Mr Sharath Alva ,Dept of History welcomed the gathering.    Mr.Laxmikanth , Lecturer, Vivekananda Law College and member of Karnataka Journalist Association, Puttur Taluk proposed vote of thanks. Mrs Sumana ,Dept of Kannada compered the programme.
