The Students’ Council-2015-16 of S Philomena Pre-University College Puttur was inaugurated on 24th June, 2015 at Silver Jubilee Memorial Hall of the College.
The inaugurator of the function, Dr. Shreesha Kumar, Sanskrit Lecturer of Vivekananda College said, “Today education is losing its true spirit. It is confined to only scoring marks and getting ranks.” He also called upon the students to work consistently with the activities of the students which will bring good name to the college.
The Chief Guest of the function, Prof. Leo Noronha, Principal of St Philomena College said, “Earning money is not the goal of education. Instead discipline, honesty should be the part of education so as to develop the personality of the students. ‘’
Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, Campus Director while addressing the gathering said, “Every person behave understanding his responsibility and the liberty which is given to us should not cause harm to others.”
Rev. Dr Alfred J. Pinto, Correspondent of the College was the President of the function. In his address, he wished the new office-bearers of the students’ council.
The President of the Council Mr. Ryan Maclean D’Souza,, Secretary Mr. Fran Steeve Mascarenhas, Joint Secretary Ms. Dechamma P.S along with other Student Representatives took the oath to work for the welfare of the student community and bring good name to the college.This was led by Rev. Fr Vijay Lobo, Principal of St Philomena PU College.
Mr. JayaKumar Rai, President of Alumni Association, Mr. Vinson Menezes, President of Parent Teachers Association, Mr. Bharath Kumar A. and Ms. Usha, Student Welfare Officers were present.
Ms. Jasmine, ll PCMB ‘B’ and group sang the prayer song. The Council President Mr. Ryan Machlin D’Souza welcomed the gathering. Joint Secretary Ms. Dechamma P.S proposed the vote of thanks. Viraj D’Souza, ll PCMB ‘B’ compered the programme .
