Inauguration of the Students’ Council, Clubs and Associations 2014-2015 of St. Philomena P.U. College was held on June 28th, 2014 at Silver Jubilee Memorial Hall. On this occasion the new floor of St. Philomena P.U. College was blessed by Rev. Fr Gerald D’Souza , Secretary, Catholic Board of Education, Mangalore and the former Correspondent  of Mai De Deus Education Institutions.

Inauguration of the Students’ Council, Clubs and Associations 2014-2015 was presided by  Rev. Fr Gerald D’Souza , Secretary, Catholic Board of Education. The Chief Guest of the function was Prof. B.J. Suvarna, Rtd. Asso. Professor & H.O.D of Physics.  The Guests of Honour were Very Rev. Fr Alfred Pinto, Correspondent,  Mai De Deus Education Institutions.  Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monterio, the Campus Director, Prof. Leo Noronha, Principal, St.Philomeana College. The other dignitaries were Rev. Fr Vijay Lobo, Principal, St. Philomena P.U College, Mr. M. R Jayakumar Rai, President, Alumini Association, Mr. Vincet  Menezes, President P.T.A.

The programme was solemnly inaugurated by the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries.

The Chief Guest of the function began the inaugural address by wishing the students to have a very useful and a wonderful year of student council. He narrated his great experience in this college as a student and a teacher. He also congratulated the students for choosing this college which has  55 years of glorious history.

He added, “ Every stream, be it Arts, Commerce or Science has its own power and importance. Therefore no one superior or inferior.” He described education as a tool of social change and he said that it is in the hands of the students to make use of it in the right way.

He cautioned the students by saying, “ This is the crucial time of your life, this is the age and stage of formation. You can either form your life with right decisions or can even destroy your life by choosing wrong path. Inoder to build your personality you have to work on your physical development, mental development, social development, moral development and spiritual development. This will surely transform you into a good individual.”

The Student President, Purushotham Shenoy, Secretary, Sohan P.S, Joint Secretary, Josvitha L.Lobo along with the class representatives took the oath to work for the progress of thestudent community in collaboration with staff and management. This was led by the Principal, Rev. Fr Vijay Lobo.

On this occasion Rev. Fr Gerald D’Souza , Secretary, Catholic Board of Education, Mangalore and the former Correspondent  of Mai De Deus Education Institutions was felicitated for his seven years of selfless service towards the institution.

 Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monterio, the Campus Director, advised the student to work with humility and obedience.

Very Rev. Fr Alfred Pinto, Correspondent,  Mai De Deus Education Institutions told the students, “ You as youngsters shouldnot be childish but be childlike, be open to correction, respect elders and live with simplicity.

Rev. Fr Gerald D’Souza in his presidential address said, “ Youngsters are the future leader of this democratic country and you work towards the betterment of your society.”

Rev. Fr Vijay Lobo, Principal, St. Philomena P.U College welcomed the gathering. The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Josvitha L.Lobo, Joint Secretary. The programme was compered by Mr. Prashanth Bhat, Lecturer, Department of Chemistry.
