St Philomena P. U. College,Puttur celebrated Philo Utsav – Annual Day
Philo Utsav – Annual Day was celebrated at St Philomena P.U.College, Puttur on 23rd December 2023.
The President, Very Rev. Fr Lawrence Mascarenhas, Correspondent Mai De Deus Educational Institutions,Puttur said that the students should have trust in God and always try to lead a disciplined life. He added that Jesus taught us how to live and develop compassion towards others and life becomes meaningless without love. He motivated students to develop good thoughts and give hope to one and another.
The Chief Guest, Mr Arun Furtado , Deputy Secretary to Chief Minister ( Admn) Vidhana Soudha said ,” To lead a meaningful life , Education is very important.Education is a process of acquiring and imparting knowledge. To achieve success communication skill, team work, discipline and Time management is very important”. He advised parents to support their children in all walks of life.
The college annual report was the highlight of the event where in all the events, activities along with the academic achievements of the staff and the students were reported by the Principal, Rev. Fr Ashok Rayan Crasta.
Meanwhile, dignitaries felicitated National level players , honoured Samruddhi Rai , the 10th rank holder and other meritorious students along with the best outgoing students.
The formal function was followed by the cultural event which was co ordinated by the convenors of Fine Arts Association, Mrs Ashwini K, Dept of Chemistry, Mrs Rashmi ,Dept of Physics, Mr Rahul. Dept of Commerce, Ms Vanya,Dept of Chemistry, Mrs Joshila Menezes, Dept of Commerce, Mr Rama Naik ,Dept of Kannada.
Rev. Fr Stany Pinto, Campus Director , St Philomena Institutions. Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Montheiro, Principal, St Philomena College. Mr Jerald D’costa, Vice-President, Parish Pastoral Council, Mai De Deus Church were present on the occasion.
The programme was co ordinated by Convenors of Student Council ,Mr Prashanth Bhat ,Dept of Chemistry and Mrs Philomena Monteiro , Dept of Commerce.
Pravan Ponnappa, President of Student Council welcomed the gathering. Thanvi K. ,Secretary, Student Council introduced the Chief Guest . Pruthvi K ,Joint Secretary proposed Vote of thanks. Mr Santhosh Clarence D’Souza ,Dept of Commerce compered the programme.
