Independence Day Celebration

India’s 70th Independence Day was celebrated at St Philomena College Puttur with gaiety and patriotic fervour.

The Principal Prof. Leo Norohna hoisted the national flag and said, ‘This day is a special day to remember and to pay tribute to the brave hearts who sacrificed their lives for this mother land.’

The Vice Principal Prof. Vishnu Bhat S in his message recalled the sacrifices of the freedom fighters on this occasion.

Rev. Fr Vijay Lobo, Principal of St Philomena College Pre-University College graced the occasion.

The NCC Cadets of St Philomena PU and Degree College, members of Rovers-Rangers Unit and NSS volunteers of the college have participated in March-past and the Parade. The members of Performing Arts Association of the college presented patriotic songs and dances.

NCC Officer Lt. Johnson David Sequeira, Convenors of Rovers-Rangers Unit Ms. Meenakshi K and Mr. Kahalandar Shareef, NSS Officers Mr. Radhakrishna Gowda and Ms. Geetha Poornima and convenor of Performing Arts Association Mr. Prashanth Rai coordinated the celebrations. Faculty member Ms. Lavina Nancy Pinto compered the programme.
